WTAMU Sorority Recruitment Set to Start Soon
At West Texas A&M University the four panhellenic sororities, Delta Zeta, Zeta Tau Alpha, Chi Omega, and Alpha Sigma Alpha, are recruiting new members. Delta Zeta President Leah Underwood said, WTAMU Greek life is truly unique, you will always find a friendly face wherever ou go.”
This process is called continuous open bidding (COB). “COB is a chance for girls that aren’t as comfortable or weren’t as sure of the formal setting of formal recruitment to go through and find their home! COB offers a place for a calm environment to have more personal connections with each girl in the sorority.” said Leah. These ladies have been seen tabling in the Jack B. Kelly Student Center, advertising for their sororities and how to get involved with them. It will all be taking place in the first two weeks of February. Exact dates and times are posted on bufflink and around campus.
The sororities send an open invitation to girls to come hang out at some events to see what their sorority is like. They may do this over a series of events, “this year we did cookie decorating and an ice cream and just dance event. These were a great hit.” Said Leah. Then these girls eventually have the possibility of being offered a bid from that sorority. If the bid is accepted, then that new member will attend bid day to celebrate with her new sisters.
Bid day is an exciting day for sorority girls. There are themes, lots of games, and activities. To get involved more on campus, especially in Greek life, you can also visit the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership.
